These courses provided me with introductory knowledge on financial instruments, time series concepts, AR(1) and MA(1) models, Monte Carlo Simulation, Markowitz algorithm, and how to use the statistical programming language R for financial applications. Having traded equities for the past few years, it is even more imperative in today’s climate that trading decisions should not be based on beliefs and hope but on a systematic approach with strict stop losses. As I look at various options for a career, I am clear that I would like to continue trading but with more extensive knowledge of quantitative models, methods and algorithms. In this regard, I look forward to a Masters in Operations Research and Information Engineering with Financial Engineering concentration from Georgia Institute of Technology to gain a holistic understanding of various concepts in finance and statistics and blend them with my mathematical, programming and analytical skills.
