For me the book was about courage, joy, imagination and the power of self-discovery. I found the book to be unsettling as well as surprising due to its revelations about the way life’s meant to be lived. It taught me that success on the outside begins with success on the inside, which can only be achieved through awareness and continuous self-improvement. I also understood, that I need to thoroughly appreciate the significance of all that I have been blessed with and ensure that my actions can make a positive difference in the lives of others; and that I must acknowledge that failure will be a part of my life, but I must learn from it and not give up. The secret of happiness lies in simply finding out what I loved and directing all my efforts towards achieving it. Julian’s transformation has inspired me to move out of my comfort zone and face my apprehensions head on. University of Virginia Undergrad Essay
