Vivid memories of this fateful day are permanently etched in my heart. My team had come a long way into the semi-finals of the district level football championship. “Common guys, you’re almost there; you can do it. Just go out there and give it your best shot! Remember; never give up and never stop believing in yourself”. These were the inspiring words of my then coach, Mr. Maurya, right before the kick off the whistle. I remember how often he used to tell me that victory can be achieved only when you go all out, and that is the attitude I have adopted not just on but also off the field. (more…)

The book ‘The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari’ revolves around Julian Mantle, a high-profile attorney with a stressful schedule and a materialistic set of priorities who is forced to confront the spiritual crisis he is in, as his life spirals out of control when he suffers a heart attack in a courtroom. India is a melting pot of diverse cultures where countless religions have peacefully coexisted over centuries. Living amidst a rich synthesis of values, beliefs, communities, and religions, I reflexively learned to respect the beliefs and traditions of other people just as others have respected mine. On the virtue of being part of a social set up widely acclaimed for its unreserved acceptance and amalgamation of different cultures, these virtues and values are central to my identity and will go a long way in replicating a similar culture at the University of Washington.
